What is Gall Bladder ?
The gallbladder is a bag like organ located in the right upper part of the abdomen, below the liver. Its main function is to store bile produced by the liver. The bile is pumped by the gallbladder in to the intestines. This bile helps in digestion of the food eaten.
Why stones form in Gall Bladder?
Cholelithiasis or gall bladder stone means formation of stones in the gall bladder. Most of the times stone forms when the pumping action of gall bladder is not proper. When bile stays for long duration inside the gall bladder the particles in the bile settles ( precipitate) down to form crystals which later gets converted in to stones.
